There has been news recently that Indian government has increased its relationship with Vietnam.indo Vietnam relationship goes back from independence period,when India opposed to US intervention there.Indian government also allowed soviet aid to reach Vietnam through territory as a anti colonial initiative.after unification of Vietnam relationship fell to decline.but following India's look east policy and Mekong-Brahmaputra trade project relationship began to take new turn economically.but with the rise of china and Chinese-Vietnamese claims to oil rich islands in south china sea both the government began to come closer not only economically and also military as well. Indian naval warships began to visit Vietnam regularly and Vietnamese have been invited to Indian defence events.
so my point is we have take the relationship to next level as full extent as a new treaty of friendship both in economic but also in defence as well, like we had with soviet union in 1970.this treaty will make sure that in any indo-Chinese conflict we can count on Vietnam and vice-versa.
